Arsenal and Japan international right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu has a hamstring injury, according to Football.London.

Arsenal’s Takehiro Tomiyasu has hamstring problem

Tomiyasu, who played for Japan at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, did not feature for Arsenal in their friendly match against Serie A club Juventus at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

According to Football.London, the £19.8 million (SkySports) defender has a hamstring problem.

However, it is not too serious.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta himself has said that the 24-year-old is “already running on the pitch” and is hopeful of having the right-back in his squad for the London derby against West Ham United later this month.

The Gunners will take on West Ham at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

Staying positive

In our opinion, Arsenal fans should stay positive about the fitness of Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Arteta’s comments suggest that the Japan international right-back will be available for the match against West Ham.

That is very encouraging.

Yes, the 24-year-old is unlikely to start against David Moyes’s team, but even having him on the bench as an option is very encouraging indeed.

Arsenal are five points clear of second-placed and defending champions Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table at the moment.
