According to Corriere Torino, Juventus are interested in signing Ruben Neves from Wolves with Arthur keen on a move to Arsenal.
What’s the story?
Well, Arthur – who Juventus paid €82m (£69m) for – is interested in joining Arsenal, with the Gunners hoping to sign him this month.
However, Massimiliano Allegri wants a replacement signed first, and has identified Neves as someone who could arrive in Turin.
Corriere Torino add that Bruno Guimaraes, Renato Sanches and Leandro Paredes are also in the sights of Juventus.
Arsenal have offered to cover the Brazilian’s salary for a six-month loan to the Emirates Stadium.
However – in addition to wanting a replacement – Juventus also need some guarantees about an obligation to buy, or at least another loan into next season.
Clearly, there are a few obstacles in the way for Arsenal to navigate.
Should Arsenal sign Arthur?
There’s no denying that Arthur is a great midfielder, although Arsenal need to get their priorities straight.
Is Arthur a panic target, or should someone else be pursued?
Interestingly, we only ask that because the likes of Guimaraes, Sanches and Neves were also said to be targets for Arsenal in 2021.
It was Goal who revealed that Arsenal had made a move for Guimaraes back in July, whereas it was le10sport who claimed the Gunners had made contact for Sanches in November.
In regards to Neves, it was The Sun who claimed Edu spoke frequently with Jorge Mendes over a deal for the Wolves maestro.
These names were on Arsenal’s list before Arthur entered the equation, so you could certainly argue that Arteta and Edu want them more than they want the Juventus maestro.
Having said that, if the Italian giants do manage to sign one, then expect to see the wheels set in motion for Arthur’s move to north London.
