Two clubs set to compete in next season’s Champions league have made contact over the former Newcastle United loan player, Valentino Lazaro, according to reports in Italy.
The Alfredo Pedulla website claims both RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach, who finished third and fourth respectively in Germany last season, have asked for information about Lazaro.
And it adds that Gladbach, in particular, could ‘present a proposal in the coming days’.
Lazaro scored twice in 15 games for Newcastle last term, but started only a third of those outings and a return to Tyneside from Inter Milan is not expected.
Staying with Inter will not happen either, according to Alfredo Pedulla, while the Austrian’s agent told Siempre Inter earlier this week that his client is already in talks with an unnamed Champions League club – which ties in with the Leipzig and Gladbach speculation.

The Bundesliga has become something of a sanctuary for players who might have left English football feeling hard done by, with Serge Gnabry, Jadon Sancho and Thorgan Hazard among those who have revived their careers in Germany’s top flight.
And Newcastle will hope that Lazaro doesn’t repeat that success, should the 24-year-old – whose solitary Bundesliga campaign prompted Inter to pay around £20 million for his services – follow in the trio’s footsteps.
Newcastle fans – did Lazaro get a fair enough chance at St James’?
