Marcus Bettinelli is open to a move to Celtic this summer with Fulham willing to let their out-of-favour goalkeeper leave for as little as £1 million, according to the Mail.
12 months ago, a talented English shot-stopper moved north of the border after losing his first-team berth, desperate to breathe fresh life into his ailing reputation.
And while Fraser Forster has certainly done that, after perhaps the best season of his entire career in a double-winning Celtic side, it remains to be seen if Bettinelli can emulate his success at Parkhead.
Try as they might, the Premiership champions have failed to turn Forster’s loan deal into a permanent contract.
And, if reports are to be believed, Neil Lennon and Nicky Hammond are now scouring the market for potential replacements.
According to The Mail, Bettinelli has joined Greek international Vasilis Barkas and former Hoops favourite David Marshall on Celtic’s radar.
At the age of 28, the former England U21 ace has found himself stuck on the bench in recent months. In fact, Bettinelli has not made a single Championship appearance since November with the giant Marek Rodak performing feats of goalkeeping brilliance in Fulham’s starting XI.
It is no surprise, then, that the long-serving stopper is keen to consider his future at Craven Cottage with Fulham expected to listen to bids of around £1 million.
