Everton youngster Niels Nkounkou has been training with the club’s first-team since their return to training at the weekend, the Liverpool Echo report.

Everton signed Nkounkou from Marseille this summer, but he was originally expected to play for their development squad.

The 19-year-old is tipped as a star of tomorrow, but it seems that Carlo Ancelotti has been keen to take a look at the left-back immediately.

Nkounkou has been training with Everton’s senior squad so far this term, and is currently their second choice at left-back, behind Lucas Digne.

Nkounkou is yet to make his senior debut, although he was included on Marseille’s bench on a few occasions during his time in France.

He is regarded as a player who is strong going forward, and his energy may have been one of the reasons why Everton brought him to Goodison Park.

Whether Nkounkou will be granted game time over the season ahead still remains to be seen.

But the youngster must be encouraged that he is already training with his new side’s first-team so soon after joining.
