Sokratis Papastathopoulos seemingly has his heart set on quitting Arsenal.
Napoli have been in talks with the Gunners about the signing the Greece international for a number of weeks now.
The Mirror reported on Tuesday that Arsenal could receive just £3.5 million for the former Borussia Dortmund, which represents a hefty loss in light of the fact that they spent £18 million signing him only two years ago.
Di Marzio has since reported that the North Londoners could terminate his contract altogether.
And Corrierre Dello Sport have claimed today that Sokratis is actively trying to pursue the option of getting his current deal cancelled.
The report adds that the Greek centre-back is ‘doing everything to leave’ North London and his international team-mate Kostas Manolas – linked to the Emirates Stadium club during Arsene Wenger’s reign – was trying to convince him to join him in Naples.
It seems like Sokratis has very little role to play at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.
He barely kicked a ball when football resumed in June and with the addition of Gabriel Magalhaes this week, and William Saliba’s return, Sokratis is totally justified in wanting to leave.
