Terence Kongolo has turned down the chance to play Europa League football at AZ Alkmaar in favour of a return to Fulham, according to Algemeen Dagblad.
Well, the Cottagers have given themselves a chance at least.
Fulham were hopeless, rudderless and, most importantly of all, pointless heading into the international break.
But Scott Parker’s hapless charges deserve some credit for bringing in a host of new central defenders in an attempt to strengthen their much-publicised Achilles heel.

But with Joachim Andersen and Tosin Adarabioyo arriving, and Kongolo set to follow, the Londoners will be hoping they now have the resilience to build on that much-improved 1-0 defeat to Wolves last time out.
The Mail reports that Kongolo is expected to join before Friday’s deadline in a £3 million deal from a Huddersfield Town side who paid £18 million for his services just two years ago.
A foot injury restricted the Dutch international to just one appearance during a recent loan spell in West London but Parker obviously feels he has unfinished business in a Fulham shirt.
AD even claims that Kongolo rejected AZ Alkmaar in order to secure a move to the Premier League.
AZ will be playing Europa League football against Napoli and Real Sociedad this season and were joint top of the Eredivisie when the Dutch football season was curtailed back in April.
Yet if Kongolo can help Fulham confound the critics and pull clear of the bottom three, his decision might just have been worth it.
