Graham Potter’s Brighton and Hove Albion have already failed with a bid to bring Jupiler League winner Trossard to the Premier League.
Leandro Trossard is ‘certainly open’ to joining Brighton and Hove Albion this summer despite Het Nieuwsblad reporting that he has a number of attractive offers from clubs elsewhere in Europe.
The Belgian winger is a man in demand right now and with good reason. He scored 22 goals from out wide last season, captaining Genk to the Jupiler League title.
And reports in his homeland suggest that Brighton have made Trossard a priority target as they look to enhance Graham Potter’s squad. An initial bid has already been made for the 24-year-old, who could cost a club record £18 million.
Now, Brighton are far from the only club who have shown an interest in Trossard. Het Nieuwsblad claims that Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach are keen to lure him to the Bundesliga while Arsenal even spoke to his representatives last season.
Crucially, however, the report adds that Trossard is open to the idea of moving to England’s south coast as he looks to make his mark in a bigger league.
And Brighton could certainly do with a player like Trossard.
Jose Izquierdo will be out until later in the year with another injury while Alireza Jahanbahksh and Anthony Knockaert do not appear to have the consistency to influence games in the Premier League on a regular basis.
Trossard, then, would add some star quality to an attack which has been worryingly over-reliant on a 35-year-old Glenn Murray.
