According to Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi in FcInter1908, Tottenham Hotspur wing-back Ivan Perisic wants to leave at the end of the season along with head coach Antonio Conte.

Barzaghi has said that Perisic is disappointed with how the season has unfolded at Tottenham.

The 34-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, joined Tottenham in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer after leaving Italian giants Inter Milan.

The £180,000-a-week (SalarySport) Croatia international worked with Conte at Inter, and they won the Serie A title together in 2021.

Conte could reportedly leave Tottenham at the end of the season.

Ivan Perisic wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Barzaghi said, as transcribed by Sport Witness: “Even in the first leg [against AC Milan] we said it would be difficult to see him again like in the last season and that from then on there would always be a downside.

“He [Perišić] too would like to return, above all because he understood that Conte is leaving at the end of the season, and things could get even more complicated for him.

“He, like Hakimi himself, as they confide to his former teammates, would like to return.

“I don’t think Perišić expected such a modest adventure in the Premier League.”

No big loss for Spurs

In our view, Ivan Perisic would not be a big loss for Tottenham Hotspur if he did leave at the end of the season.

The Croatian is 34 now, and his performances for Spurs so far this campaign have not exactly been great.

Now, of course, Perisic is a very good player and can still do a decent job, but he has not really made the impact that he was expected to.

Yes, we have to consider that Tottenham as a team on the whole have not been very consistent, but we expected more from Perisic.

The Tottenham no. 14 has made 17 starts and eight substitute appearances so far this season.

Perisic has given five assists in those games.

The wing-back has also given three assists in seven UEFA Champions League matches, and has played once in the Carabao Cup and twice in the FA Cup for Antonio Conte’s side this campaign.
