Torino are ready to sell Southampton and Crystal Palace target Soualiho Meite due to his disappointing performances this season, according to Calciomercato.

The 26-year-old midfielder might have struggled to replicate his impressive 2018/19 form over recent months but do not assume that a series of sub-par displays have put off his many suitors.

Calciomercato reports that Meite has two Premier League clubs weighing up a summer swoop – Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints and Roy Hodgson’s Palace. The £17 million-rated enforcer could end up in Spain too, if Celta Vigo could find a way to finance a deal in these most uncertain of times.

And such interest must be music to the ears of Torino president Urbano Cairo.

Reports in Italy claim that he would be more than happy to listen to offers with Meite’s performances across the 2019/20 campaign leaving a lot to be desired. In fact, he has only started 11 Serie A matches this season, the most recent coming in a 4-0 thrashing at Lecce in February.

Meite’s average tackles per game has dropped from 1.3 to 0.8, while his pass completion rate has also fallen to just 80 per cent.

Though Southampton, Crystal Palace and co are obviously willing to overlook all this and take a punt on a player who, not so long ago, was one of the most admired and hotly-tipped midfielders in Italian football.
