Arsenal are among the clubs who have been offered the chance to sign Alex Grimaldo.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Benfica left-back earlier in the transfer window.
With Nuno Tavares set to leave North London, another left-sided option might be considered by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and Edu, despite the addition of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Manchester City need a replacement for the Ukraine international and have also been linked with Grimaldo, whom the Portuguese outfit want £17 million for according to Marca today.
But 90 Min have reported today that Arsenal are also firmly in the race after revealing that the Emirates Stadium outfit have been offered the player, as well as Pep Guardiola’s side.
Earlier in July, it was reported that Edu was already in talks about bringing the 26-year-old to North London, though there hasn’t been a huge amount of development since then.
Zinchenko is more a left-sided attacker as opposed to a left-back, however.
The former Citizen’s arrival doesn’t mean a move for Grimaldo is off the table, particularly with Tavares looking set to leave the club after only one season.
With Kieran Tierney being a little on the injury prone side, cover in left-back is absolutely essential and therefore a move for Grimaldo shouldn’t be ruled out.
