Marc Cucurella does not want to leave Chelsea and wants to work with new head coach Mauricio Pochettino, according to a report.

The London Evening Standard have reported that Marc Cucurella wants to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place in new head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup.

According to the report, “Chelsea had been open to selling Cucurella, who signed for £62million from Brighton last summer, and sounded out clubs in Saudi Arabia over possible moves”.

However, the Spain international left-back has “discouraged interest” and has told Chelsea that he wants to stay, according to the report.

Marc Cucurella being sensible about Chelsea future

In our opinion, Marc Cucurella is being sensible about his future at Chelsea.

The Spain international left-back joined the Blues from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion only last summer.

And we all know how bad Chelsea’s season was in 2022-23.

And, like many other new players, Cucurella did not have the best of times at Chelsea last campaign.

However, we know that the 24-year-old is a very good left-back, and we believe that he could flourish under former Tottenham head coach Pochettino at Chelsea.

The £175,000-a-week (Spotrac) left-back made 21 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea last season.

Cucurella gave two assists in those games.
