According to Calciomercato, Juventus have offered Adrien Rabiot to Newcastle as they attempt to offload the Frenchman.
What’s the story?
Well, it seems Juventus are keen to offload both Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey, with Newcastle expressing an interest in both.
It was Juventus News 24 who claimed that the Magpies had even held talks with the Welshman over a return to the Premier League.
The Italian giants need to recoup some cash, and have identified the pair as two players who are surplus to requirements.
Interestingly, a separate report from Calciomercato claimed that Rabiot is actually a target for Newcastle and Amanda Staveley anyway.
In that respect, it’s intriguing to see that the 24-cap France international has now been offered to the Toon Army – surely they’ll take up the offer.
What can Adrien Rabiot bring to Newcastle?
Well, the 26-year-old would unquestionably bring bundles of quality to Newcastle’s midfield.
Rabiot is a player of real pedigree, and has made 51 appearances in the Champions League throughout his career.
The classy £175,000-a-week playmaker has also represented Paris Saint-Germain, so he knows what it feels like to be at a club with big expectations.
After the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) arrived on Tyneside, that’s exactly the type of club Newcastle are now.
If Rabiot did end up at St James’ Park, he would bring plenty of composure to the midfield, and a calming presence that Eddie Howe doesn’t already have within his squad.
Make no mistake about it, if Newcastle pull this deal off, it would be a tremendous way to kickstart the new era under Staveley and PIF.
