Billy Koumetio is still training with Liverpool’s first-team despite the return to Joel Matip, the Liverpool Echo report.

Jurgen Klopp said that Koumetio was being promoted to senior training after both Virgil van Dijk and Matip struggled with injury.

Matip is now on his way back to fitness, but Koumetio is still being kept around by Jurgen Klopp.

Whether that is just as a precaution or a signal that the 17-year-old is now considered a first-teamer remains to be seen.

But Klopp has previously spoken about how excited he is about Koumetio’s future, labelling him as a ‘big talent’ on the club’s official website.

Koumetio has not been called upon by Liverpool yet, despite their injury problems.

Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips have both been favoured to him in recent weeks, but there are hopes that the teenager could become a first-team regular in future, if he fulfills his potential, and training with the Reds’ senior stars will surely be brilliant for his development.
