A player for whom Newcastle United and Sheffield United are said to have made approaches this summer has verbally agreed a new contract, according to reports in Greece.
It was claimed by SDNA in June that both Newcastle and Sheffield United were quoted €20 million (around £17.9m) after enquiring about the Olympiacos midfielder, Mady Camara.
Sportime later reported that Olympiacos were ‘receiving pressure’ from Fiorentina over Camara, and that all parties were ‘close to shaking hands’.
But the Guinean is one of three players now set to commit to the Greek giants, according to NovaSports.
Camara, along with the defenders Pape Abou Cisse and Ousseynou Ba, are now said to be only a signature away from extending their deals, which will contain an increased wage but no release clause.
The website states that Olympiacos will therefore ‘have the opportunity to set the selling price of each player, depending on the interest that will exist from abroad’.
Whether or not Newcastle and Sheffield United will be among the alleged suitors remains to be seen.

Since reports first credited them with an interest in Camara, Newcastle have signed an alternative to the 23-yar-old in Jeff Hendrick, though Sheffield United could lose John Lundstram at the end of his contract next summer, if not sooner.
