FC Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has reportedly begun English lessons amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United and a questionable future with the La Liga giants.
According to Sport, the Uruguay international is working on his English with Barcelona struggling to sign Araujo down to a new contract, with Premier League clubs eyeing the centre-back ahead of the summer.
Marca have previously reported that the likes of United and Chelsea have already made offers for Araujo, with Liverpool also said to be keen on the South American titan after a great season with Barca, who are eager for the defender to sign a new contract.
As per Football Espana, though, Araujo’s current release clause stands at £167m, and whilst Barcelona could sell for less if needed, the Catalan giants will likely want a big fee for their star defender who has his best years ahead of him.
Indeed, Araujo has been a shining light for Barcelona this season, with the 22-year-old anchoring a defence that has been led by the youngster under Xavi Hernandez, yet the lack of contract progress from the club and this new update from Catalonia could be music to the likes of Liverpool and United.
Both clubs could target Araujo ahead of the summer, and with the defender now taking English lessons, Liverpool and United might smell an opportunity to sign one of Barcelona’s most exciting talents.
Liverpool and United should be keeping tabs on Araujo’s situation at Barcelona

With Araujo’s future at Barcelona still undecided and the player himself now taking matters into his own hands, the likes of Liverpool and United should be keeping a very close eye on what the defender does next in Spain.
After all, Araujo is one of Barcelona’s best players in the current squad and a talent who could become world-class in his position, and for Liverpool and United, swooping for the defender will be huge for either side.
