According to the latest edition of The Guardian’s next-generation list, Arsenal seemingly have a very exciting teenage talent coming through.

The Gunners have plenty of exciting youngsters on their books at the moment. The likes of Omari Hutchinson, Charlie Patino and Folarin Balogun are making waves in the U23s, and that’s before we even mention Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe who are of course shining in the first team.

However, one name you may not be too familiar with is Reuell Walters.

The 16-year-old has become something of a regular in the U23s this season. He made his debut for Kevin Betsy’s side in September and it has to be said that to bring into for U23 side at 16 you have to be a pretty special player.

Walters does seem to be a real talent. He’s apparently been turning heads at Arsenal and it seems as though it may not be long before he’s competing for a first-team role at right-back.

The full-back grew up playing in the higher age groups, and he was actually on Tottenham’s books for a little while, but he felt he needed a break from academy football after his four-year stint with Spurs, before joining Arsenal in 2019.

Walters is described as a grounded and a level-headed individual with attacking instincts, and that bodes well for the teenager if he’s going to be a modern full-back.

It seems as though Walters has a real attacking intend despite being a defender:

“For me, football is all about winning your battles and being able to make an impact on the game. Sure, going backwards is great for keeping the ball, but you can get so carried away with playing safe that you’re harming your team and it’s not advancing the game. I’m always trying to hit the areas that cause teams trouble, and that’s what Arsenal has allowed me to do – to be myself on the pitch!” Walters told Arsenal’s official website earlier this year.

It seems as though the Gunners could have a future star on their hands here.
