The Leicester City midfielder Nampalys Mendy will decline the chance to stay at the King Power Stadium, according to a report in Thursday’s Daily Mirror (page 54).
The newspaper claims that Mendy, who is now a free agent after his Leicester deal expired, will join the Qatari side Al Sadd instead.
The Foxes had offered an extension to the Frenchman and ‘were understood to be feeling positive about how (talks) were progressing’, according to Leicestershire Live.
But Mendy, who appeared just eight times for Leicester last season, can expect to feature more often if he moves to the Gulf nation.
In doing so, the 28-year-old would be coached by one of the finest players to have ever graced his position in Xavi Hernandez, ex of Barcelona, and have a chance to line up alongside Santi Cazorla, the former Arsenal number 10.

The loss of Mendy, for whom Leicester are reported to have paid around £14 million in 2016, could force Brendan Rodgers into the market for a replacement.
