Ousmane Dembele to Liverpool is already shaping up to be a very interesting summer transfer rumour.

Calciomercato in Italy reported earlier in April that Liverpool wanted to sign the Barcelona winger, who is out of contract at Camp Nou in 14 months.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the France international in the past and it looks like Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards remain fans of the 23-year-old.

And there may be a potential boost for Liverpool on that front.

Barcelona spent £135 million on Dembele four years ago [BBC Sport] and, of course, they don’t want to lose him for free next summer.

They have offered him a new deal but according to Sport in Spain, the former Borussia Dortmund livewire hasn’t responded to the offer over the past two weeks.

If true, that certainly indicates that Dembele has reservations about staying with the Catalans and that has to be good news for Liverpool.

But the report adds that the Primera Division giants suspect Dembele’s representatives are the reason behind the delay in hearing back about the contract offer, with some inside Camp Nou thinking it is a strategy of some description.
