Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Ivan Perisic as of late.

L’Interista reported this week that Spurs were in talks about signing the 32-year-old winger.

But with other clubs keen on the Inter Milan flyer – like Everton, for instance – then a move to North London was never certain.

However, Inter Live have reported that the Croatia international would actually favour a move to Tottenham.

That’s because Perisic already has a solid working relationship with Conte after the pair were at San Siro together.

Good signing?

Hmm, well there’s certainly no doubt that Perisic was a fine footballer, electrifying and lightning-fast in equal measures – particularly in international competitions, evident by how he dismantled England in the World Cup three years ago.

For now, though, we’re talking about a 32-year-old and although he isn’t a has-been, Perisic’s best days are quite obviously behind the Croat.

Remember, the Premier League isn’t for the faint-of-heart. It’s well-known for being perhaps the quickest division in Europe.

And whether someone of Perisic’s age could cut it in England’s top-flight is, well, a tad doubtful.

Exceptional circumstances are rare, like a 36-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo still ripping up the Premier League but the truth is, Perisic is no Ronaldo.

For £125,000 per week – his wage at San Siro – Tottenham could and should get a much better signing.

And crucially, one who could have a long-term impact in North London, whereas Perisic would almost certainly be a short-term acquisition by Conte at Spurs.
