According to TN Deportivo, West Ham target Valentin Castellanos – who has been likened to Didier Drogba – could now be sold to Leeds.
What’s the story?
Well, this is bad news for West Ham, although Leeds fans will surely be encouraged to hear this update by TN Deportivo.
The report states that River Plate have made a €12m (£10m) bid for the Argentine, although that won’t be enough to sign him.
It is said that Leeds are willing to spend more than that, and now, the 23-year-old could be heading for Elland Road in the summer.
This update comes after the Manchester Evening News revealed that West Ham are interested in signing the New York City striker.
A source close to River Plate told TN Deportivo that negotiations over a deal for Castellanos are now “99% down” – clearly, there’s only a small chance of the forward joining the Argentinian giants.
Leeds could embarrass West Ham

If Leeds do beat West Ham to the signing of Castellanos, it could be very embarrassing for the Hammers if he goes on to succeed.
Even if the South American ends up costing around €15m (£13m), that is still nothing for a Premier League side, so Leeds could get a bargain.
Castellanos scored 19 goals in 32 Major League Soccer appearances in the campaign just gone, while also recording eight assists.
As aforesaid, he has even been compared to Chelsea legend Drogba, which speaks volumes about his ability.

If Castellanos is even a third of the player Drogba was, Leeds could have a gem on their hands.
Keep an eye on this saga – until he’s holding up a Leeds shirt, West Ham still have a chance of signing him.
