Rangers and Celtic are reportedly going head-to-head to sign the same player.
According to 90 Min, both Glasgow clubs are interested in signing Liverpool hitman Divock Origi during the summer transfer window.
Origi only started two Premier League games for the Reds last season and if Celtic and Rangers are genuinely interested, he’s there to be got.
That’s because Goal.com reported on Saturday that the Anfield club view the Belgian striker as ‘dispensable’.
The report adds that nobody at Liverpool is forcing the former Lille marksman – a £10 million signing in 2014 – out of the club, but nobody will stand in his way either, with clubs from Germany and England also reportedly in the reckoning.
Which makes more sense?
Hypothetically, a move to Celtic may be more beneficial if the Hoops and Rangers are genuinely interested.
That’s because there isn’t as much competition for places up front at Parkhead as there is at Ibrox.
For instance, Steven Gerrard already has Cedric Itten, Kemar Roofe, Jermain Defoe, Alfredo Morelos and now Fashion Sakala as forward options.
It makes very little sense of Rangers even wanting Origi but if the Old Firm are keen, Celtic is the smart move.
