Matt Ritchie wants to leave Newcastle United this summer and he wants a return to Bournemouth, according to a report.

The Mirror claim that the Cherries, who missed out on promotion this season, are looking to hire Patrick Vieira as their new boss.

With Ritchie seemingly ‘anxious’ to leave Newcastle, if he gets his way, he may well end up playing for the Highbury legend next season.

There was a well-documented falling out between Ritchie and manager Steve Bruce during the recently concluded campaign.

All of it stemmed from Ritchie seemingly failing to deliver the correct instructions to the correct people during Newcastle’s showdown with Wolves on home soil – and then Bruce calling out the player publicly for it.

Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that the £10 million 2016 signing (Guardian) still wants out of the club.

It is said in the report that Ritchie was ‘disappointed’ that a move away from the North East to the South Coast didn’t materialise in January, and now for family reasons, he is keen for that switch to happen this summer.

Whilst Ritchie is a fan favourite amongst the Newcastle fans, he’s not a regular and Bruce seemingly doesn’t fancy his talents despite the left-footed aggressor being one of their best players during these past five years.

Either way, given Ritchie’s situation, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is out of the door and back to where it all started next season.
