Stoke City defender Nathan Collins will not force a move away from the Potteries before Monday’s transfer deadline despite interest from Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Burnley, according to the Irish Independent.
With Michael O’Neill’s side under pressure to remain within the limits of Financial Fair Play, there is an acceptance at Stoke that their much-coveted centre-back may have to be sold in the summer; especially if they fail to earn promotion from the Championship.
But, for now, there is no immediate desire to cash in on a 19-year-old who recently became the youngest captain in Stoke’s history.
The Independent believe that Collins, who is a target for around six Premier League clubs, is valued in the region of £10 million.
Burnley were laughed out of the door after making an initial £4.5 million offer, although Arsenal and Crystal Palace are watching closely (the Sun, January 24, page 59).
But, while Stoke fans will be counting down the seconds until the February 1 deadline, it seems they can sleep a little easier tonight.

Because Collins has no plans to force a move away from the Bet365 Stadium. He is one of the first names on O’Neill’s team-sheet and is therefore happy with life at Stoke.
The 6ft 4ins giant has apparently been lined up as a long-term replacement for James Tarkowski at Burnley.
But, with the England international still plying his trade at Turf Moor, a move to Lancashire would see Collins swap a starting place at Stoke for a bench-warming role at Burnley.
