As one door opens, another might be closing at Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are poised to re-sign Gareth Bale in a stunning and emotional return to North London for the Real Madrid attacker.
There was originally talk about Tottenham sending Dele Alli in the opposition direction.
And although Bale looks to be a done deal without Alli going to Madrid, the 24-year-old might still be leaving the club.
According to The Daily Mail, the prospect of Alli leaving the Lilywhites is a ‘realistic possibility’ after manager Jose Mourinho left him out of the squad that travelled to Bulgaria for a Europa League qualifier.
The report adds that all parties agree that the England international – who earns £100,000 per week right now – needs to leave Tottenham to kick-start his career again after a difficult time under Mourinho following Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking last November.
There’s no doubt that Spurs fans are in dreamland following the news of Bale’s would-be return.
But by the same token, there’s also a lot of supporters who won’t be happy in the slightest if Alli winds up leaving.
When on form, the former MK Dons star is still such a massive talent and it would be a big, big shame if another club benefited from that, other than Tottenham.
