Christmas is almost upon us, and with that, it’s nearly time for the January transfer window, where Arsenal could potentially do some shopping.

The Gunners are having a difficult season, with Mikel Arteta’s side struggling to find momentum in the Premier League.

If they are to reach the Champions League, reinforcements will surely be needed.

In that respect, let’s take a look at three things Arsenal fans should ask Santa for this Christmas…

Every successful side needs a talisman in attack, and Arsenal are severely lacking a frontman to haul them over the line right now.

The £56m man has only scored four Premier League goals in 14 appearances this season, and looks a shadow of his former self.

He’s also now been dropped and stripped of the captaincy.

At 32, it’s probably time for a younger option to take his place, such as Dusan Vlahovic – a target for Arsenal – or the exciting Gabriel Martinelli.

We’re not sure what’s happened to Thomas Partey this season, but the £45m man has been very poor for the Gunners.

Aside from him, Arteta has underwhelming options such as Mohamed Elneny, Granit Xhaka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles to choose from.

Albert Sambi Lokonga has started brightly, but we can’t help but feel Edu needs to make a big statement in that area of the pitch.

A colossal figure – someone like Liverpool’s Fabinho – is needed to help tighten up what is arguably the most important area of any team.

Arsenal fans may have to wait for Santa to deliver on this one, but it should be atop the list of every Arsenal supporter this Christmas.

The Gunners haven’t played in the Champions League since 2017, and every year they miss out, it damages the club’s reputation and hopes for the future.

No player worth his salt is going to choose a move to Arsenal over a club partaking in the Champions League, for example.

Arteta (and Santa) must bring the good times back to Arsenal, and fast.
