Young striker Reo Griffiths has clinched his move from Tottenham to Lyon.

Griffiths was unveiled by Lyon yesterday, after a prolific season in Tottenham’s academy.

He will spend the first season in Lyon’s academy, and told Foot01.com he aims to make his first team breakthrough as quickly as possible and even has his eye on playing Champions League football for the club.

Griffiths went on to thank his support network of friends and coaches for helping him get to where he is, although there was no specific mention of Tottenham.

Could go one of two ways

Griffiths’ departure from Tottenham will either end up making the club looking silly, or leave him with regrets.

The safe option for the young striker would have been to stay at Spurs and remain in North London, around friends and family, and a coaching set up he knows.

Tottenham have a proven track record of bringing through players if they are up to standard and work hard enough to impress Mauricio Pochettino.

Griffiths has taken a leap of faith in himself by switching to Lyon, and he will either make Tottenham regret not fighting harder to keep him, or wondering if he should have simply stayed put.
