Tottenham Hotspur look to have a huge talent on their hands in Reo Griffiths.
Tottenham’s Under-18’s wrapped up their season earlier today, and produced a stunning performance to hammer North London rivals Arsenal 9-0 at Hotspur Way.
Spurs’ senior side may have fallen short against Manchester United in Saturday evening’s FA Cup semi-final, but their youngsters have been on fire this afternoon.
The star of the show was undoubtedly striker Reo Griffiths, who scored four times for Spurs in their thumping win, with Dilan Markanday and Rodel Richards grabbing a brace each, whilst Arsenal’s Mazeed Ogungbo scored an own goal too.
Spurs subsequently finish fourth in the South division of the Under-18 Premier League, and striker Griffiths will be grabbing all the headlines after his four-goal display.
The teenager doesn’t even turn 18 until June, but he has fans excited about his future – providing it’s with Tottenham, given that ESPN claim interest from German side RB Leipzig.
Today’s four-goal display means Griffiths finished the campaign with a staggering 27 goals in 20 Under-18 Premier League games, and his goalscoring exploits are becoming difficult to ignore for Mauricio Pochettino and co.
With Fernando Llorente struggling this season, there is a role for a striker to offer cover behind Harry Kane, and whilst Griffiths is still so young, there may not be a better manager to develop under than Pochettino – and with a remarkable goalscoring record this season, Spurs must have one eye on using him in pre-season.
