When speaking on BBC Radio Five Live on Monday April 10th, BBC pundit Chris Sutton explained why he feels sorry for Spurs flop Vincent Janssen, with the Dutchman struggling to adapt to life in England, following his move to Tottenham last summer.
The former AZ Alkmaar man has scored just five goals in 34 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this term, with four of those coming from the penalty spot.
And, aside from his poor goal return, the most worrying aspect of Janssen’s debut season in the Premier League is how far off of the pace he has looked, with his playing style being more suited to the pedestrian nature of the Eredivisie.
The 22-year-old has received plenty of criticism from pundits and fans alike, but Sutton expressed his sympathy for the Tottenham man, when speaking on BBC Radio Five Live last night:

“You have to say you feel a bit sorry for him because it is hard to step into Kane’s shoes, but he hasn’t delivered.”
It could be argued that the Holland international still needs time before he can be fairly judged, but in the current climate, where success is expected to be instant, he will surely not be given too many more opportunities to impress Mauricio Pochettino and the Spurs fans.
