Rennes are reportedly ready to terminate Loic Bade’s loan deal at Nottingham Forest in January, with the 22-year-old defender yet to play a single minute for the newly-promoted Premier League side this season.
According to Le Telegramme, the Ligue 1 club are ready to pull the plug on Bade’s time in England, with the former France youth international failing to make any sort of impact in Steve Cooper’s side this campaign, with the defender actually playing more minutes for Rennes this season than with Forest.
Signed on deadline day on loan with an option to buy for £12m according to Foot Mercato, Bade was one of 22 players Forest recruited in the summer. Yet like many of the names brought to the City Ground, the youngster has failed to make a name for himself in England.
As per Le Telegramme, Rennes have plans to loan out Bade again in the January window once his deal with Forest has been terminated, with the centre-back viewed by the club as a prospect with the potential to become a quality player in the French top-tier.

However, Bade’s loan move to Forest might have stunted the youngster’s development given how little the 22-year-old has played this season, with the Frenchman only making the bench once during his entire spell with the Nottingham-based club so far.
Indeed, this entire move has been nothing short of a disaster, with Forest taking away crucial months of Bade’s development on a loan deal that was seemingly never set to work out in the first place. And now, Rennes are making the right steps to bring the prospect back to France.
Rennes terminating Bade’s loan deal is the best decision for all parties

Bade’s loan deal at Forest couldn’t have gone any worse had Cooper actually decided to try and to use the defender, and Rennes putting plans into motion to terminate the defender’s stay in the Premier League is a decision that will benefit all parties involved.
After all, Bade is a player who has the potential to become quite the defender at a top-flight level, and with Forest not giving the centre-back a single minute this season, Rennes are well within their right to bring the defender back to France for the second half of the campaign.
