Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want Eduardo Camavinga.
Rennes boss Julien Stephan has told RMC Sport that he feels midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has ‘a lot of maturity’ for somebody so young.
Camavinga, 16, has been coming up through the Rennes ranks having joined from Drapeau-Fougeres in 2013, and he’s becoming a sensation this term.
The midfielder started against Paris Saint-Germain last month and earned rave reviews for an exceptional performance as Rennes turned in a shock victory.
Camavinga has already made 12 first-team appearances for Rennes, but he’s still studying at school as he balances his academic and athletic commitments.
Camavinga already looks set for stardom, and having dominated the PSG midfield at such a young age, he is attracting major interest.
The Daily Mail report that Tottenham Hotspur are keen to land Camavinga, but face competition from both Arsenal and Manchester City.
Tottenham will be eyeing his progress this season, and boss Stephan has praised him for his maturity both on and off the pitch.
Stephan hailed Camavinga for his clever and sensible, but feels he is still developing physically, and Spurs should be paying attention to his manager’s assessment as they consider a move in 2020.
“Eduardo has a lot of talent and qualities,” said Stephan. “He is someone on a human level who is very well built, intellectually, too. He keeps his feet on the ground but remains a very young player, still in development, especially on the muscular level.
“He is a good student, it gives him a lot of thought on the field, he has a lot of maturity for a young player because he asks himself the right questions on the field, in relation to his position; what to do and what not to do, on his areas of improvement. His brain works very well,” he added.
