Renato Sanches has told Sven Botman ‘good luck my brother’ ahead of his incoming transfer to Newcastle United, as he posted on Instagram.
The Lille midfielder posted the message to his soon-to-be-former teammate, after the defender posted on Instagram that he is ‘really grateful’ to have worn the colours of the Ligue 1 giants.
Botman helped Lille win the title two seasons ago, which is some feat given the stupid amount of money PSG have spent and still continue to spend on players.
Nonetheless, Sanches posted, both on his IG story and in the comments section of Botman’s farewell post to Lille, ‘good luck my brother’.
BOTMAN COMPLETES NEWCASTLE MEDICAL
It seems as though it will only be a matter of time before Botman’s transfer to Newcastle is confirmed, with the 22-year-old completing his medical, as reported by Sky Sports.
It is also said that the Magpies are spending £35 million to sign the former Ajax player, who joins Dan Burn as the second central defender purchased by Eddie Howe.
The Englishman arrived during the January transfer window and should partner Botman at the back on a regular basis next season.
In fact, compared to last season, the Toon Army faithful might just see a completely different backline to the one that went winless for so many games under Steve Bruce last term.
If fit, the experienced Kieran Trippier will fit in at right-back, with Botman and Burn at the heart of the defence, then it’s Matt Targett, who was on-loan at St James’ Park last season, starting at left-back after he completed a permanent transfer from Aston Villa.
And most recently, after Burnley were relegated to the Championship, Newcastle didn’t waste any time in bringing England international, Nick Pope to the club.
Either way, there is only one way the Magpies are heading and that’s towards Europe, it’s just a case of whether they can do the business quicker than some people think.
