Jose Enrique has told Empire of the Kop that Renato Sanches would be a good signing for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The former Liverpool star believes that Lille midfielder Sanches has the potential to become world class.

Liverpool interest

Former Premier League champions Liverpool have been linked with Lille star Sanches.

CBS Sports first reported in February interest from the Reds in the former Bayern Munich man.

L’Equipe reported only yesterday that Liverpool are among a number of clubs who are keen on the 23-year-old.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

What Jose Enrique says

Enrique told Empire of the Kop: “Renato Sanches is a player I do know a little bit more about – he has the potential to be a world-class player. He moved to a big, big club when he was very young and sometimes these kinds of transfer are not easy to handle.

“But maybe now it’s the time for him to make a step into a bigger team. With one year left on his contract, he could be a good signing for us. We’d have to make it clear to him, though, that we already have Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho, who will probably be our starting three in midfield.

“If he can accept that, for the money it’d take to sign him with one year left on his contract, I believe he could be a great signing for Liverpool.”

Would Renato Sanches make Liverpool better?

Sanches did well for Lille last season and helped them win the Ligue 1 title.

The 23-year-old made 14 starts and nine substitute appearances in Ligue 1 last season.

The former Swansea City loanee scored one goal and gave three assists in those games.

Sanches then did well for Portugal at the European Championship this summer, making two starts and two substitute appearances.

The youngster is a central midfielder, but he can also operate further forward and on the wing.

For the right price, Sanches would be a good signing for Liverpool, especially as he is only 23 and Georginio Wijnaldum is no longer at the club.
