Newcastle United star Remy Cabella has urged the club to stick with caretaker boss John Carver.

Newcastle United star Remy Cabella has told the Chronicle the squad is happy under John Carver.

Carver has been in caretaker control of the first team since Alan Pardew left for Crystal Palace and Cabella has suggested there is no need for officials at the club to do anything other than hand Carver a long term deal to become head coach.

“We are happy with JC and the staff are good, Stoney and JC are good. The training is good and we are happy,” said the Frenchman.

“We are not happy to lose, that’s normal. We have a good ambience here.”

The club asked Carver to take care of the first team while they searched for a new boss, but there’s now plenty of merit in the club appointing him on a permanent basis.

He’s had a little bit of time to stamp his authority on the team and Cabella suggests there has been a definition in Carver’s decisions despite the likely reservations he’ll have over his current role with the club.

Morale and confidence is important for any side and if the players believe Carver is the man to take them forward, then club officials should listen to their most important staff members; the players.

Newcastle don’t play again until the end of the month as they were beaten by Leicester City in the third round of the FA Cup and there’s every chance Carver will still be in charge when the team takes on Hull City.

Whether that’s still as caretaker manager or as permanent head coach, we’ll have to wait and see.
