Jamie Carragher has claimed that Liverpool target Jarrod Bowen is showing finishing qualities ‘reminiscent of Robbie Fowler’, as he told Sky Sports PL (13/02/22 at 6:50 pm).

The former Liverpool defender added that the flying West Ham forward has to be in for a shout for the England squad.

Over the weekend, West Ham recorded a 2-2 draw at Leicester City, with Bowen opening the scoring at the King Power Stadium.

It was the 25-year-old’s eighth Premier League goal of the season and a further sign that he is one of the most improved players in English football.

Carragher is a big fan of the former Hull City man and paid him the biggest compliment regarding his recent finishing in front of goal.

“In that type of finish, it’s reminiscent of Robbie Fowler,” said Carragher. “That’s what it feels like with Bowen, when he is in those situations, he’s going to score.

“He knows where he is. He’s cool as personified when he is in that position. And he has to be in for a shout with the England squad.

“The way he is playing right now. He is absolutely fantastic.”

The Times have reported that Liverpool are keen to sign Bowen from West Ham in the summer.

The £20 million star can play across the front three, including recently as a false nine, but he is better coming off the right.

With the Hammers currently in Europe, and showing signs they will end the campaign in a strong fashion again, they shouldn’t be too worried about the player himself wanting out.

But, at the end of the day, if a club like Liverpool come knocking, then it might just make some in the east London boardroom fret a little.
