Some Liverpool fans on social media have been raving about Thiago Alcantara after their 4-1 win against Aston Villa.
The Reds had an easy time of it against the Midlands outfit as they fielded a squad of young players who hadn’t appeared for the senior side before.
As you can imagine, for a player like Thiago who makes the game look easy against some of the best players in the world, this was an opportunity to turn on the style.
The Spaniard was playing at something close to his best against Villa, spraying passes and constantly trying to create chances.
Perhaps his performance was best summed up by his pass in the build up to Mohamed Salah’s goal in the second half.
Thiago drifted into a half space before zipping a ball quickly into Xherdan Shaqiri who then had a simple task of slipping Salah in, where the Egyptian did the rest.
Unfortunately, injury has meant that we’ve not been able to see all that much of Thiago in a Liverpool shirt, but this performance served as a timely reminder of what a quality footballer he truly is.
