Arsenal should jump at the chance to sign Atletico Madrid powerhouse Thomas Partey according to ex-Gunners defender Armand Traore, who told talkSPORT that the Ghanaian ‘reminds me of Patrick Vieira’.

With just a month remaining until the transfer window slams shut, Mikel Arteta, Edu and co deserve a lot of credit during arguably the most testing market in recent memory.

Not only have the apparently cash-strapped Gunners managed to snap up Gabriel Magalhaes despite rumoured interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli, they are also on the verge of an even bigger coup – convincing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to stay at a club who recently endured their worst league season in 25 years.

A deal to bring Partey to the Emirates would be the icing on the cake, especially when you consider that Arsenal have lacked a dominant presence at the heart of their midfield since the glory days of Vieira and Gilberto Silva.

“I wouldn’t mind a guy like Partey in there sitting in front of the defence or somebody a bit angry. He [Partey] reminds me a bit of your Gilberto [Silva] or [Patrick] Vieira – somebody who can go out there and give it a go,” says Traore.

AS reported on Wednesday that Arsenal are still keen to lure Partey to the Emirates.

But, with his £45 million release clause proving to be out of their price-range for now, Edu is under pressure to raise funds before the October transfer deadline.

Finding buyers for Shkodran Mustafi, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and co would certainly help matters.
