Lee Dixon has given a massive compliment to Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, likening him to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
Saka helped Arsenal to an excellent 4-2 victory away to Chelsea last night as the Gunners kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
The 20-year-old’s ability is plain to see and even Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants him at Anfield [ESPN].
At times during the first half on Wednesday, Saka tormented his marker with the same sort of style Salah often does to Premier League left-backs.
And Dixon, a full-back himself during his playing career, believes the England international is comparable to the Egyptian wizard.
He said on NBC Sport: “When this lad runs with the ball at his feet it reminds me a little bit of Mo Salah. Just watch how quick he gets it out of his feet and attacks the full-back. Once he gets in the box, Alonso is in trouble. The cut-back is good but Nketiah can’t get enough on it.”
Arsenal are going to need to sign Saka up to a new deal pronto.
He is only earning £30,000 per week in North London and with clubs like Liverpool reportedly interested, well time is very much of the essence.
Qualifying for the Champions League might keep the wolves from the door for now but, with the Hale End gem contracted only until 2024, finishing fifth or lower this season might be the invitation that clubs like the Reds need to make their move.
Dixon is right; Saka is very reminiscent of Salah and under no circumstances can the Gunners lose him.
