Some Everton fans on Twitter have been raving over the performance of Ben Godfrey against Wolves on Tuesday evening.
The young defender was utilised as a left-back against Wolves, and despite the fact he wasn’t playing in his natural position, he really showed what he is made of.
The defender was integral in Everton keeping Wolves at bay, helping limit the effect that Pedro Neto could have on the game.
Indeed, Neto had a difficult day at the office for the Midlands outfit, and that’s down to the sheer intensity Godfrey was playing with.
The ex-Norwich man’s performance drew comparisons to some Goodison Park legends from over the years, with fans comparing him to the likes of Sylvain Distin, Joleon Lescott and Joseph Yobo.
One thing that really caught the eye in Godfrey’s performance was how fast he is. The defender’s speed was really on show in a wide position, and the fact that Neto and Nelson Semedo could get no joy down his side shows that.
Godfrey has been brilliant ever since arriving at Everton, earning praise from pundits across the country, and after his performance against Wolves he was certainly getting the credit he deserves on social media.
