We take a look back at West Bromwich Albion’s best victories in the month of May from the last decade.

West Bromwich Albion 7-0 Barnsley (6^th May, 2007 – Championship)

‘Super’ Kevin Phillips hit a hat-trick to send West Brom into the Championship play-offs on a high note. Nathan Ellington, Robert Koren and Zoltan Gera also chipped in with goals to give Tony Mowbray’s side an emphatic victory over the 20^th place Tykes.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-3 West Brom (13^th May, 2007 – Championship play-off first leg)

West Brom came from behind to claim the first leg advantage over bitter rivals Wolves.

The Baggies took the lead through Phillips before goals from Jody Craddock and Seyi Olofinjana put the hosts ahead. Just two minutes later, Albion were level when Phillips headed home his second of the game. Diomansy Kamara then burst through the Wolves defense to claim a 73^rd minute winner.

Queens Park Rangers 0-2 West Brom (4^th May, 2008 – Championship)

Albion captain Jonathan Greening lifted the Championship trophy following a final day victory over QPR.

After the hosts had Martin Rowlands sent-off in the first half, substitute Do-Heon Kim headed the important opener. Chris Brunt sealed the win in front of the Albion supporters, many of whom were wearing superhero outfits in honour of top-scorer Kevin Phillips, with a trademark free-kick.

West Brom 5-5 Manchester United (19^th May, 2013 – Premier League)

The Hawthorns crowd were treated to a thrillier in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final game as Manchester United manager.

The Reds seemed intent on giving Ferguson the perfect send-off as they stormed into a three goal led, courtesy of goals from Shinji Kagawa, Jonas Olsson (og) and Alexander Buttner.

Romelu Lukaku came on to swing the momentum of the game in favour of Steve Clarke’s side. The on-loan Chelsea striker and James Morrison struck to pull the Baggies back into contention before United once again pulled clear through Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez goals.

With the score at 5-2, the Baggies fought back once again in an unbelievable finale, as Youssef Mulumbu got on the scoresheet and Lukaku bagged his hat-trick.

Manchester United 0-1 West Brom (2^nd May, 2015 – Premier League)

Tony Pulis’ side reached the magic 40-point mark with a surprise victory at Old Trafford.

Chris Brunt’s second half free-kick deflected off defender Jonas Olsson to hand Albion the lead. Robin van Persie had an opportunity to pull the hosts level but his spot-kick was saved by Boaz Myhill.

West Brom 3-0 Chelsea (18th May, 2015 – Premier League)

Newly-crowned champions Chelsea were picked apart by a rampant West Brom performance at The Hawthorns.

After Saido Berahino’s 20-yard strike put the hosts ahead, Cesc Fabregas made Chelsea’s task even more difficult by getting sent-off for kicking the ball at Brunt. Just after the break, Berahino grabbed his second from the penalty spot before Brunt’s drive completed an impressive win.
