Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to deliver his verdict on Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amid reports that Newcastle and Manchester City are plotting club-record £150million move to sign the Georgian superstar, in the summer window.
Kvaratskhelia, 22, has been in stunning form. Joining Napoli in the summer of 2022, the Georgia star has played in 28 of Napoli’s 34 games in all competitions this season. He has scored 13 goals and laid on a huge 15 assists this term.
His form has been pivotal behind Napoli’s push for the Serie A title, with Napoli already placing a hand on the trophy. Transfer expert Graeme Bailey recently reported that Newcastle and Manchester City are plotting club-record moves.
Indeed, it is believed that the attacker could cost a massive £150million if either club wants to sign him. Certainly, for Napoli, they could not have asked for two clubs they would rather chase their young star – given their financial muscle.
Kvaratskhelia did an interview with New York Times reporter Rory Smith and Lineker has responded, with a verdict of his own on Twitter. He said “remember the name”, to the extent that it will be easy enough to spell his name.
Lineker verdict on Kvaratskhelia amid Newcastle, Manchester City reports
This young star is a serious talent. He was linked with Premier League clubs before his move to Napoli from Russian side Rubin Kazan. But, he has since been sensational at Napoli. A change in country, a step up in league – no bother.
What a player he is. Easily deserving, especially given his age, of his £150m price tag. Can Newcastle or City convince him of a move to English football? It is likely that both clubs will have to tempt Napoli first with a massive cash offer.
