The Togo international is now playing in the German lower leagues.

Aston Villa fans will undoubtedly remember their cult flop signing Moustapha Salifou. His name caught more attention than anything else, as it lent itself perfectly to the melody of ‘Daddy Cool’ by Boney M, becoming a crowd chant favourite.
But he never made an impact on the pitch at Aston Villa. Signed by Martin O’Neill in 2007 from Swiss side FC Wil he spent four years at Villa Park. But the Togo international played just four times for the club in the Premier League.

Despite that, he was popular with the Villa faithful, and this week he told Fussball.de just what he thought about the Aston Villa fans:
“The English fans? Well they are so crazy.”
Salifou clearly has fond memories from his time in the Midlands.
Now the Aston Villa cult hero is playing his football for German sixth tier side Turkspor Augsburg, after stints with Saarbrucken and 1860 Rosenhelm.
Now 33-years-old he is hoping to take the side to new heights in the advent of his career. If he can bring success to his new club, there will be a few Aston Villa fans doing the ‘Sali-Salifou’ in celebration and homage to an Aston Villa cult icon.
