West Ham United have reportedly completed their second signing of the summer in the shape of Swansea City goalkeeper Lukas Fabianski.
West Ham have been linked with the world and its wife since Manuel Pellegrini was appointed the club’s new boss last month.
So far the Hammers have brought in Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer from Fulham with West Ham keen to get their business done as early as possible.
According to the likes of Sky Sports West Ham have wrapped up their second signing of the summer, the £7million capture of Swansea ‘keeper Lukas Fabianski.
The transfer has been in the offing for the last two weeks and despite the widespread reports no official announcement has been forthcoming as yet.
And now well-placed journalist Ken Dyer – who has been covering West Ham for over 30 years for the Evening Standard – has revealed why the Fabianski deal will not be announced until Wednesday.
“The club have agreed a £7million, three-year contract with Swansea for Fabianski,” Dyer wrote in the Evening Standard.
“But (West Ham) will delay confirmation of the deal until tomorrow (Wednesday) since the 33-year-old former Arsenal keeper is in the Poland squad facing Senegal today.”
New goalkeepers are one of West Ham’s key priorities this summer with Joe Hart returning to parent club Manchester City after a disastrous loan spell and Adrian’s future in doubt.
Many Hammers fans are somewhat overwhelmed by the prospect of signing Fabianski, though, especially after he played his part in Swansea’s relegation from the Premier League last season.
But it does show a bit of class from West Ham to hold off on the announcement with Fabianski in World Cup action for his country.
