Southampton ditched Jeremy Pied in the summer after a frustrating spell

Southampton cut ties with Jeremy Pied in June after a frustrating spell for the defender at St Mary’s.
Pied made only eight appearances in two seasons for Southampton after injury wrecked his spell in the Premier League.
As a free agent he was snapped up by French side Lille, but he has found it a struggle.
Pied has played only eight minutes in Ligue 1 so far this season.
He has one other appearance in the Coupe de France, in which he started and played for just over an hour.
Both of Pied’s appearances came in the last fortnight, having failed to make the matchday squad during his first two months in France.

At the weekend he was on the bench as Lille lost 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain.
Pied will be pleased to be finally in contention again, showing a flicker of life at his new side.
Southampton fans never really got the chance to see what he is capable of.
Pied hopes that opportunity will eventually come with a run of games for Lille.
