The midfielder played just ten times under Neil Lennon at both Celtic and Bolton Wanderers – but he won’t be signing for Hibernian any time soon.

Filip Twardzik could hardly have made a better start to life in Celtic colours. On his long-awaited league debut against Kilmarnock in 2012, the Czech teenager’s ingenious backheel allowed Gary Hooper to scramble home Celtic’s sixth of the evening, putting the cap on a first league title in four years.
Although, if that was supposed to herald Twardzik’s arrival in the British game, nobody will be more disappointed about his plight than one Neil Lennon. The manager who gave the technical midfielder his chance in green and white also took him to Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers in 2015 after he was handed just four more games in Celtic colours.
Yet again, Twardzik made a difference on his debut, though under rather different circumstances. While Celtic were toasting the title at Kilmarnock, Twardzik’s strike in a 4-1 loss at Derby County carried far less significance.
Two years on, however, he’ll be lucky to make a debut again. Since being released by Wanderers in the summer following their inevitable and unavoidable relegation to League One, Twardzik has still not found a club willing to take a chance on his talents.

At the age of 24, Filip and his twin brother Dan, who until January 2016 was a goalkeeper for Motherwell, appear washed up, their careers all but over.
In fact, Filip hasn’t played a senior game since a Championship clash with Cardiff City in December 2015. At least Bolton and Celtic can fall back on the fact that they did not make a mistake letting him go.
