Gary Neville has sent a message to Jamie Carragher on Twitter after Manchester United moved level on points with Liverpool last night.

The Red Devils joined Jurgen Klopp’s side on 33 points after recording a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Friday night.

After full-time, Neville posted a video of himself popping some champagne open, which Carragher reacted to on Twitter.

The former Manchester United right-back then told his Sky Sports colleague to ‘relax’ before saying that he would ‘see you on the 17th’ – United take on Liverpool at Anfield on January 17th.

You can see Neville’s message to Carragher in full below.

The Sky Sports pundit’s use of the phrase ‘joint top’ seems to have annoyed some Liverpool fans who replied to his tweet.

Of course, they have every right to have been provoked by that phrase, as it’s factually incorrect.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side might have the same amount of points as Liverpool.

However, they simply aren’t ‘joint top’ as the Reds are eight goals better off in terms of goal difference.

Despite the provocative claim, it has somewhat of a retro feel to see Manchester United competing with Liverpool for a Premier League title.

It’s been many years now since the two great English rivals have battled it out at the top – January 17th’s clash is certainly one to keep an eye on.
