Former Everton player Pat Nevin has been speaking about Toffees front-man Steven Naismith.
The 28-year-old has impressed for Roberto Martinez’s side this season, scoring four goals in seven Premier League appearances.
It was enough to win Naismith Everton’s Player of the Month award and he put summer signing Romelu Lukaku in the shade in the early stages of the campaign.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Nevin said, “I’ve been watching Steven Naismith for such a long time up in Scotland. He is a superb player. A lot of people asked me ‘Is he going to make it at Everton?’ and I said to everyone ‘Relax, don’t worry you’ve got a player here.’”
They certainly have, but Naismith will have to keep his early season form going as the Toffees look to climb up the table in the weeks and months ahead.
But Naismith’s versatility bodes well as Martinez looks to get his club back to where they were last season.
“You can put him wide, you can put him as the single man up front but his best position is probably just off the front in the middle area,” Nevin added. “All those positions he can do at the top level.”
There is no doubt Naismith has finally shown what he can do on a consistent basis. The trick now is to keep that going for an entire season.
