Reiss Nelson has a chance to return to action for Arsenal this week.

Reiss Nelson signs a new long-term contract at Arsenal at London Colney on August 31, 2018 in St Albans, England.

Arsenal could welcome Reiss Nelson back to action this week after the winger has missed more than a month of action with injury.

Nelson played 45 minutes for Arsenal’s under-23s on Friday night in a 3-1 win over Tottenham.

He is in with a chance of featuring in the first team matchday squad this week when Arsenal travel to Vitoria in the Europa League.

Missing piece

Nelson’s season so far has been a disappointment. That’s largely down to injury.

But he did make six first team appearances before his spell on the sidelines and he has not made the immediate impact he was hoping for.

His one goal and assist both came in the same match in the win over Nottingham Forest.

In this game he showed a glimpse of what he is capable of, the player Arsenal saw shine at time for Hoffenheim on loan last season.

Nelson has been allowed to become a forgotten man due to the rise of Bukayo Saka.

There is room for both, and Arsenal are lucky to have two exciting dynamic options available to them.

The Gunners have struggled to unlock defences at times this season, struggling to break down both Crystal Palace and Wolves when it really mattered.

Unai Emery needs some inspiration and Nelson’s return is perfectly timed.

It might not click instantly for him when he returns, his start to the season has shown that, but when he does, Arsenal have a special talent on their hands.
