Fabrizio Romano claims Reiss Nelson is to hold talks over his future with Mikel Arteta this summer, with Feyenoord wanting another loan for Nelson. Romano says the Dutch side cannot afford to buy the Arsenal winger.
Nelson, 22, joined Feyenoord on loan last summer when it became clear his game time was going to be limited – with Arsenal failing to achieve Europe. He has since had a hand in 10 goals during 30 outings for Feyenoord.
Scoring three, he has created seven more and Feyenoord are keen to keep the England Under-21 star – but only on loan. Romano reports that they are unable to buy Nelson on a permanent basis – despite his contract situation.
However, Romano also reports that Feyenoord want him on loan and £50k-a-week (Spotrac) Nelson will return to Arsenal to discuss his future ahead of the summer window. Arteta’s stance on his future remains unclear.
Nelson to discuss Arsenal future with Arteta: He needs to leave
Nelson is a good player, but not one of Arsenal standard. If he was to return to The Emirates, he would find Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe and Emile Smith-Rowe ahead of him in the pecking order.
That is, if Arsenal do not make any signings out wide. Nelson is worthy of a Premier League club, but not one as strong as Arsenal. Perhaps a move to a club like Fulham, who will spend and are in London, would suit Nelson.
