Former Crystal Palace striker Reise Allassani is making up for lost time after being cruelly denied a move to Sheffield Wednesday in 2016.

The 22-year-old, who was once courted by Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United while on Palace’s books [Express], was due to sign for Wednesday after his release by the Eagles 18 months ago [London News Online].

A serious knee injury put paid to that deal, however, and Allassani spent more than a year on the sidelines before returning to action with seventh-tier Dulwich Hamlet last November.

And he has already struck 17 goals – including two hat-tricks – in 16 appearances, having been moved to centre-forward from a wider role.

“Seven or eight” clubs have registered a firm interest in signing Allassani this month, according to Dulwich boss Gavin Rose [London News Online] – with some of Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship rivals thought to be among them.

Having signed a trio of strikers since the start of last season – Steven Fletcher, Sam Winnall [currently on loan at Derby County] and Jordan Rhodes – in addition to the four already in their first team, it is unlikely that Wednesday will renew their interest in the former Crystal Palace prospect.
